From the Dean
From its establishment in 2005, the Bill Gatton College of Pharmacy has been focused upon preparing pharmacists to assume an active role in providing skilled, ethical, and compassionate patient care that improves the health and quality of life of the people in the Appalachian region, and the nation. Together, the faculty, students and administration embarked on a journey to achieve excellence in innovative pharmacy education, scholarly research, and service to society and the profession. I am proud to say that we are accomplishing this mission.
Since achieving full accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education in June 2010, the college has devoted its efforts to advancing the program by building upon its initial success. Opportunities for enhancing the curriculum are being identified with an emphasis on Interprofessional Education. Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences are being expanded. Residency programs have been established. The future of the college, indeed, looks promising.
I hope you will take the time to browse the web to learn more about our mission, and to discover a little about the faculty, staff and students who comprise the college’s family.
